What to do to lose weight while on breastfeeding diet

A nursing mother on breastfeeding diet who is concerned about weight gain during lactation and is considering losing weight should wait for at least four weeks after pregnancy before starting the program of losing weight while breastfeeding. This is meant to give the body enough time to recover from pregnancy.

In order for the body to recover quickly from pregnancy losing weight while breastfeeding needs to wait. A nursing mother really needs to make sure she is eating an nutritional diet that is balanced. She should choose foods from every group each day.

The body of the mother and the baby needs enough nutritional supply of at least 6 servings of whole grains, 3 servings of fruit, 4 servings of vegetables, 4 servings of dairy and 6-8 ounces of protein every day. In order to fill any gaps that might arise it is recommended that you continue your prenatal vitamin. The breastfeeding diet of a nursing mother should be inclusive of less calorie intake by limiting junk foods such as chips, cookies, soda, cakes and candy. The eating of healthy foods and snacks will satisfy the hungry nature of breastfeeding mothers. What should be encouraged is the taking of about 2000 calorie of healthy diet.

The production of breast milk will definitely draw away Water from the body of the nursing mother and it definitely needs to be replaced. Therefore, a nursing mother can drink about 12 glasses of water per day. What should be avoided is the use of juice, soda or any other sweetened beverages as substitutes for water. A nursing mother can consider doing some light exercises. This can include doing some 10 to 15 minutes walk outside and have some time nature accompanied by your child or spouse. The time can be increased to 45 minutes a day as you gradually become accustomed to the situation.
