You have often heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but I am here to tell you that what you have heard numerous times could also be adding to your waist line. People often repeat this cliché without really understanding its implications or it leads them to believe that they can eat whatever they want for breakfast.
This is not the case. A high calorie meal at any time of the day is a bad decision, just because it is in the morning and you have all day to burn it off does not make it ok.
I have delt with numerous people that will routinely eat upwards of 1000 calories during breakfast in the form of bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. The point is that many people start their day off entirely wrong.
Yes, you do need to start your day with some fuel but flooding the engine with junk is not going to supply you with good energy. It will just cause you to be overfull and possibly constipated for the rest of the day.
The ideal breakfast is simply one item. This one item will give you energy to get started but not too much and it will get your metabolism going. The idea is that you should be hungry within a few hours of breakfast. A small snack before lunch is fine.
Some of my favorite breakfast include fruit, a smoothie (not too big), a protein shake (especially if you worked on the previous day), or cereal. Something small, within the 200 – 400 calorie range is ideal. This will leave you feeling light and buoyant but not hungry.
So, if you are trying to loose weight fast there are most likely some breakfast calories that can be easily cut that will allow you to shape up in no time.
